A strong project brief gives everyone a common reference for what needs to be delivered. Start with the outcome you want, then work with the delivery team to describe the scope and the decisions required.
Set out the essentials
Explain the project location, intended use, priorities and any timing constraints. Identify the person responsible for approvals and the people who need to be consulted. Record assumptions that still require confirmation.
Agree how changes will be handled
Ask how changes to the scope, cost or programme will be documented and approved. Keep decisions in writing so that the client and delivery team are working from the same understanding.
Define completion early
Discuss the inspections, documents, demonstrations and outstanding-work process expected at handover. Clear completion requirements give the team a shared target and help the client prepare to take responsibility for the finished work.
